Treatment Philosophy

My philosophy of medicine begins with my Faith. I
believe that God is in control and I know that he is GOOD.
As a physician and surgeon I know that God wants the best for you and I feel
privileged and blessed with the responsibility of being your doctor. I
have also been blessed by being trained by some of the greatest orthopaedic
surgeons in the country and I believe God has equipped me with knowledge and
skills to help you get better!
That being said, I believe that the patient comes FIRST.
I want every patient to be well informed. I will do my very best to
accurately diagnose your problem and then educate you about this problem and
inform you about your treatment options. I will never recommend any
treatment that I would not recommend to a family member who had the same
problem. This usually begins with conservative treatment options.
Thankfully, many orthopaedic conditions can be effectively treated with
non-operative treatment measures and if these are indicated I will certainly
exhaust these options before I recommend operative treatment routes. If an
operation is necessary I will thoroughly discuss risks and benefits with you
prior surgery.
My philosophy of surgery is that...Less is More. By this
I believe in MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY whenever it is
efficacious. This includes arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, hip, ankle,
elbow, wrist, and more.
My specialty training in shoulder arthroscopy has given me a
unique perspective when it comes to this joint. Unlike some surgeons who
only use arthroscopy for diagnosis, debridement, and simple repair procedures, I
perform practically ALL shoulder reconstructive procedures
arthroscopically - including repair of MASSIVE rotator cuff tears.
Arthroscopic surgery (as opposed to open surgery) leads to significantly less
pain and suffering for the patient and allows me to perform repair techniques
which can not be accomplished via traditional open surgery.
I have also trained in less invasive joint replacements,
computer navigation joint replacement procedures, and even less invasive
fracture care. I believe in keeping up to date on orthopaedic procedures
and using technology to enhance patient care.
In summary, my philosophy is that you and I are teammates with
a common goal - to improve your health and function!
