Paul Brady, M.D. | Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Arthroscopic Shoulder Specialist

Dr. Paul Brady is a ABOS board certified orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship trained Arthroscopic Shoulder Specialist with Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics, Knoxville, TN.  He dedicates the majority of his practice to the shoulder but also treats a wide variety of sports injuries (including the knee).

After growing up outside Washington, D.C., Dr. Brady yearned to head south where his family roots ran deep.  He attended Furman University and graduated with honors with a degree in psychology.  He then took 2 years off to put his new wife through graduate school before attending medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.  Again he graduated near the top of his class and then entered his 5 year orthopaedic training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.  As a chief resident he also served as assistant team physician for the Demon Deacons football team.  He was honored to be chosen (over 100 other applicants) to complete a year long one-on-one mentorship with one of the greatest shoulder surgeons in the world - Dr. Stephen Burkhart.  His year in San Antonio studying under Dr. Burkhart transformed his medical career and allowed him to bring world-class surgical skills to Knoxville, Tennessee when he joined Tennessee Orthopaedic Clinics.

His Christian faith has played a huge role in why Dr. Brady has chosen the profession of orthopaedic surgery.  He believes that God wants the best for everyone and he desires to be used as an instrument of healing for patients with shoulder or other orthopaedic problems.  Having been trained by some of the WORLDS leading experts in the field of shoulder surgery, Dr. Brady is uniquely equipped to maximize each patients potential outcome.

Minimally invasive surgery and state-of-the-art technology and techniques are areas where Dr. Brady excels.  His passion for continual advancement and improvement are secondary to his belief that as a physician he must tirelessly commit to life-long learning and improvement.  This has been evidenced by his contributions to both the orthopaedic literature as well as to developing multiple new techniques and shoulder implants.  His goal is to "strive to change peoples lives for the better".  Dr. Brady is an Inventor listed on 6 US Patents.

In addition to patient care Dr. Brady dedicates a tremendous amount of time and energy into educating other orthopaedic surgeons.  He has been invited to speak to thousands of orthopaedic surgeons in over 15 states and also internationally.  He is the co-chairman of one of the most popular orthopaedic shoulder courses for surgeons in the country.  Registration for this course is typically sold-out in less than an hour!

Research is critical to the advancement of shoulder surgery and Dr. Brady has authored or co-authored over 20 journal articles in leading orthopaedic journals.  He has also co-authored 3 best-selling textbooks on shoulder arthroscopy.  These books have been translated into 3 other languages and have won an international award for Best new textbook in the field of orthopaedic surgery.
